What do you use to prevent rust? I wash my parts either with acetone or with special hand-cleaner (have also tried paint remover and gasoline, but the smell is sort of curious), gets stuff nice and clean, but it's then so clean that you can watch cylinder heads, rods etc rust the instant the water drips off. I haven't found anything yet which would clean my parts thoroughly but NOT cause them to rust immediately. And NO, I won't buy aluminum heads
And how do you remove carbon deposits in difficult places? Is there something that will soak in?
I'm asking, because I'm on a new project (1970 Impala) and the block is mechanically in a sound shape, but awfully carbonized (has a lot of miles, but no other serious damage) and should be cleaned really well.
