    so you do eventually weld up full seam, not just every few inches. anybody done the stepped box?

    I'm just recommending to him that we box back just past the transmission mounting point, just to compensate for the torque from the 429.

    It looks like that pretty frame Godspeed posted is step boxed. I understand that term to mean the 4th wall is inset slightly. A nice way to do it as it keeps the cables and lines inside and hidden.

    For what you are doing some long spot welds would do just fine, if spaced a few inches apart. The only reason I welded it fully was for cosmetics and to keep water from having a place to enter.
