    9 inch rear end possibly

Hey guys,...Im curious to know if the rear end in my 53 Mercury is a 9 inch and if so, is it possible to make it a positive track plus change the gear ratio.

If its a stock rear, it is NOT a 9 inch (as we know them today). Nine inchers came out in 1957. Can you get a posi for a stock 53 Merc rear - Not sure.

yes if it is a 53 9/ a 57,in will not work mercury rear axles and ford pass are different cars were drop out and mercurys were not drop out s.if your axle is stock if newer like a ford 9 from 57-up then you can do what i said. you would be better off going with a newer 9 any ways or keep it stock
