    Streets
Its more of an arguement with a friend that wants to gain more engine compartment room. He claimed that he could swap the spindles left to right and install a rack. Isaid no the geometry would be all screwed up! He said no that there is a kit out there that does it ??? Not that I know of?

He's most likely going to want the use of my lift to prove his point. So swaping the spindles left to right won't mess things up! what year or model VW rack? I think he was going to try a Mustang II unit?

Thanks for the answer! If this works at least it cheaper. Thanks for the info on the forums.

He's building an electric Camaro and needs every inch on room for batteries, and the steering box was right in the way.
Streets I like the lift charges, I've got to make up a sign!

This can be easily done. you don't even have to remove the spindles. Just remove the stock steering arms, switch them side to side, and install them pointing forward. This gives you the correct Ackerman. A VW rack won't work, it's rear steer. Mustang will fit, but the bump steer is way off. A Corvette rack will work.

Be aware there is a bunch of frame in the way for mounting the rack in front.
Anyone can restore an old car, it takes a man to cut one up
