Carter Rebuild. Generic Kit?????
I just got back from my neighborhood auto supply store, lookin for a rebuild kit for my carter 4131 (1966 383 mopar). The counter guy recomended a edelbrock kit. I know that eddys and carters are similar, but do things like rebuild kits interchange? He said one is the same as the other. I am skeptical. This is something that I don't want to screw up. If they are all the same, what is the point of having so many different model #s of carbs?

My experience is the parts (gaskets and neddle and seats) will fit and work fine. You'll probably find however that a regular Carb kit through someplace like NAPA or Car Quest is cheaper than the Edelbrock kit.

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
