If you use longer shackles, you'll start bending the springs.

My buddie has a tow business in the midwest and every time it snows or rains /almost always it was some shackeled car all jacked up in the back ,down in the ditch. They really like to hydro plane ,in the rear with air shocks and shackles. If your doing these bigger tires for traction, thats all out the window when you raise the rear end and put all the down force and weight to the front tires, untill you get the front way up on launch from drag shocks or pull the front up in the air from hp,you will have less traction untill that point. If your at this point I would suggest tubbin it and this can be done with alot of work and little money or alot of money and little work. The logic behind tubbin is just what I described ,all jacked up in the back and no weight transfer and handling issues as I described.Tires all tubbed and hidden under the back scream performance, air shocks and shackles scream inexsperiance. Two exact cars and one is shackled and air shocked to the moon, the other tubbed and still sittin at ride height, the tubbed normal car will be faster and handle much better.Once you jack it up in the back the handling gets down right terrible compared to a normal or tubbed car.
Its gunna take longer than u thought and its gunna cost more too(plan ahead!)

Shawnlee28 is absolutely right. When you see a car all jacked up in this manner it really labels the car as el cheapo. I've mentioned before, air shocks are not designed to lift a car up that high. They are only made to level it out under a load.

When you jack a car up this way, you screw up the pinion angle, the front end geometry, and create an ill handling car that wants to sway and stop badly.

Air shock raking went out in the '70's. The only right way to get big tires under there is mini tubbing or tubbing.

Air shocks and long shackles do absolutely nothing to improve any aspect of the cars performance..... A correctly sized wheel and tire combination, or tubbing the rear to accomodate the size of tire and wheel you want to run is the correct way to do it.

If memory serves me correctly, the right backspacing on the rear wheels and a bit of trimming on the wheel lip will allow use of a 15 X 7 wheel on the back with a 245x60x15 tire. I've seen a lot of cars running in the low 11's with slicks on a 7" wheel..... The jacked up back end look along with extended shackles and air shocks never has and never will work good on either a street car or a drag car.

    We've all done it,
    shackles/air shox/shock extensions/adding leafs.
And we all end up learning that the way to do it RIGHT.
Your car will ride better.feel more stable & get better traction.
