    66 Chevy Heater Core

I'm having the damnedest of times trying to get this heater core in my car. The heater box is .. i guess "stapled" into the fire wall with these circular button things. Has anyone ever ran into this before? It came from the factory like that.

It's a 66 Chevy Impala 4 Door with A/C & Heat. I'm sure any chevy in 65 & 66 with A/C and Heat will have a similar setup. Has anyone ever delt with this? It's such a pain! I can't get it to come loose! I've taken out all the screws.

its been a long time sense i put a heater core in a 66 chevy. but i don't think it was nothing special about it. sounds like you don't have all the bolts out. where is the heater fan motor, behind the fender well or on the firewall? might be some bolts behind the fender well .

You have to remove the inner fender on that side, then remove the entire heater fan enclosure on the firewall, Seems like I had a couple of clips that then held the core in on my 65 (same car). It has been about 5 years since I replaced it, but I am sure on the inner fender and enclosure.

    Mwell. It was a 4door 283 2 barrel w/ A/C on a Powerglide.
Buuut I pulled the 283 out and sold it to a friend who put it in an '82 Datsun 280ZX.
Now I've got a 355 Chevy with a Comp Cams 268H Cam & Matching Springs.
Dual Plane Intake w/ a 2200rpm TCI Saturday Night Special converter on it.
