Distributer Question
Hey everyone - I'm putting a sbc 350/330 crate motor in a '46 ford - just a cruiser - need some advice on Distributer type i should use - I'm thinking about an HEI w/coil built in for a cleaner look but have heard that they are prone to heating up and breaking down - does anyone know this for true and is it possibly just under extreme conditions,i.e. extra hot temps, or racing, or? and if so what should I use in your opinions?
Many thanks in advance - I've found alot of help here!

Not a thing wrong with an HEI in a cruiser.
Simple, reliable, easy to obtain partsfor.

We run a modded HEI in the pure stock racer, clean and crisp to 6800 RPM. It has a hotter coil and locked out vacuum advance, works great.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

yes they work fine up to 6000 like mike said . and up but past that i would add the Ex ternal coil kit and a hop up module but i have a customer that has a 427 that as a stock HEI that runs past 6800. but if past 6000 you may want to add some better parts to itIrish Diplomacy ..the ability to tell someone to go to Hell ,,So that they will look forward to to the trip

My grandmother was born in Ireland, we were able to find the records on the net where she came thru Ellis Island in 1925 when she was 17 years old.
