The article and pictures describe Bruce Stedman of Street Machines by Stedman removing 9 inches of frame behind the rear cab mount and using this piece to reinforce the frame at the splice. You can get a cleaner job by having a 3/16" reinforcement plate bent that will fit inside the frame rail. Just my opinion.
