should be a little place you can put a 3/4" breaker bar, and push it or pull it back ( depends on car ) and slip the belt on, then let it go. 3.0 Ford V6's don'ty have that, you have to loosen the nut on the tensioner then pry it back, and then after it's on, you just reverse the prosess.
