Well, yesterday i pulled the old block out andtook a couple parts off that i needed for the new motor.i took my time all day and was very patiant. i put the new oil pan gaket on , i really like that one piece gasket alot better than the older motor ,degreed the new cam , installed the gear drive, checked tdc and marked the pointer, installed the water pump, and pullies and put the block in the car i put on the starter fuel pump and that was enough for me, i cant do this stuff like i use too, must be getting old. keep in mind im doing this in my moms drive way no garage no lift all outside. today ill put the new valve springs on the heads and install the top end and every thing that goes with it. debbies going to call me from the poconos so i can here the cars go round the track ...that ought to be cool keep you guys posted maybe shell fire today ....we will seeGLENN

I know EXACTLY what you mean. Worked on getting my frame welded for about 12 hours yesterday with my Kid, and today I feel like a truck ran over me. A VERY BIG TRUCK. This car stuff used to be fun, now it's worse than going to work.
Maybe I am just out of shape and it will get better as the build progresses.

That first fire up is always a real trip. Glad to hear it ran good.
I've actually called people on the phone and put the phone next to the engine so they could hear it run. We car guys are slightly nuts, aren't we?

Probably no need to inform the neighbor hood, I'm sure it was well announced through the un-capped headers.
Glad you got it running!
Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
