    Electrical Starting problems

I have a brand new battery in the car and it started the car when the battery was put in then the car sat for a week and the pump would come on but when I would turn the key in the column it would do nothing. I can turn the key on and put the screw driver to the solinoid and it starts and if I put the charger on the battery and turn the key it will start, what do you think is the problem? I have checked my ground from the battery to the frame and also checked the positive cable, there ok

Right, its probably a poor connection somewhere. Could even be a bad ignition switch.

You know I have checked my positive and negitive cables and they have good contact, i even did some grinding/cleaning to get better contact, I was leaning towards the ignition switch but it just kind of threw me that it would start with the charger hooked up

Have you done the voltage drop tests? If good check for a bad fusible link coming off the starter. You said the battery grounds to the frame,do you have seperate ground from the block to the frame? I've seen them left off after a swap. Hank
