55-59 Chevy truck lwb to swb frame shortening
There was a magazine tech article a few years ago about shortening a 55-59 Chevy long bed frame to a short wheel base frame. Does anybody remember this or have a copy? I can't remember where I saw it and now I would like to read it, as that is exactly what I have planned. Any help would be appreciated.Mike

I remember the article that you are referring to and I believe it was either in Street Rodder or Popular Hot Rodding.Ken Thomas

Mike. You can find this article in "How to Build Tri-Five Chevy Trucks" published by HPBooks. The article and pictures describe Bruce Stedman of Street Machines by Stedman removing 9 inches of frame behind the rear cab mount and using this piece to reinforce the frame at the splice. You can get a cleaner job by having a 3/16" reinforcement plate bent that will fit inside the frame rail. Just my opinion.
