call & go see your old friends

I know this has nothing to do w/cars BUT I need to say this....

I learned last nite that a friend I hadnt seen in years died of a heart attack, this hits home because of my wifes heart problems. we had been friends throughout high school and for years after that. we'd go places, do things & partied together along w/other friends for years. but as time went on we kinda drifted apart like alot of us do. I had seen only a few times in the past 10 yrs or so, but had drove past his street several times a week and always wondered how he was. for what ever reason I NEVER made that turn and now it hurts & upsets me I never did,
SOOOOO to all of you PLEASE call or better yet go see some of those friends you havent seen or called in years, because you'll regret it the day that this happens, I know I do.. IF.. IF.. IF.. IF, I had only listen to my innerself and made the one turn on to his street, I would of enjoyed our friendship even more, but instead I have to dwell on what has happened and hope to God I have changed my ways..... I have friends to call & see now, because I dont want this to happen to me again. KEEP THOSE FRIENDSHIPS ALIVE...........joe

Tonite an old friend who also was a friend of his went to the wake & it brought tears to my eyes when his wife told me tonite that he talked about about me all time & what good times we had. DAMN I wish one of us would made that call or would of turned into that driveway........... gotta make some phone calls.....joe

Thanks to both of you for a wake-up call. We all need it from time to time. We think we are so damn busy and don't have time for our loved ones including our friends. I have a best friend from high school whom I have not hardly seen or talked to for any period of time since graduation in 67. Also, a college friend who lives on the east cost. Your words are great and we all need to heed them. Also, I wanted to share with you a new source of friends. I learned of a "car guys" group that meets impromptu each Saturday morning at a local restaurant for breakfast - about 9ish. Sometimes 6 show up and sometimes 12 - what a great time we have - everyone from different walks of life from me being the youngster at 54 to the older guys at 70+. Every Saturday I learn something new and the guys are all just genuine car guys - no big ego's, hiddern agendas, or holier than thou attitudes. If you haven't had the pleasure, get a friend and start the rumor. It will surprise you who shows up. The diner loves us and we usually rearrange the table banquet style to get us all around the table.

Thanks again for your thougts and Streets - it is good to see you back at the 'puter' to offer some rare "sage advice."

    Ronnie
