JPG version
Matt--I can't see it good enough to tell you how to reproduce it. If you can post a bigger picture, or email me, then i can tell you how----Brian
I just had to resize what I had, the pic was bigger, but CHR came up with the pic too big thing, so I downsized it, and saved it as it was not thinking, and then to find out, it was a BMP, jpg would have fit fine, and now I have no original and cannot find the Ebay listing:CRY: but the pic is reconizable, the parts that can not be seen well due to pixilation are the 4 fingers that grab the center trimQuote:

Still can't really tell from that picture---The profile could be cut from 1/2" aluminum plate, which can be cut on a bandsaw, is easily tapped, and could even be polished. What is happening where it attaches to the underside of the visor?---is the visor in two halves and the center support gripping the flange where the 2 halves join in the center?---and how does it attach at the windshield side?
the visor is 4 peices actully, the 2 big main body peices, the big mount that mounts the small mount, and the small mount itself, which is what I'm missing, the mount comes out and the fingers hook on the backside of the center trim of the windshield, holding it in place, then the screws on the small mount can be tightened on the larger mount, to firmly secure the mount onto the trim. the 2 screws you see on the small mount is what I'm talking about.
Mat167---I'd really like to help you, but without a better picture of what it looks like, I can't.
If the ebay listing has a good picture post the link.
this 1's just a bit diffrent but it has the same concept, the other auction ended yesterday and without a item #, I can't find it, even tho that was the exzact mount. as probably you can see from the fuzzy pics from the original pic, this mount is taller, and has 4 screws on it instead of 2, if this were the mount, the bottom screws would do what the top screws do at tightening up the fingers. http://i11.ebayimg.com/01/i/06/70/ag/e7_1.JPG
Matt---Is this what your talking about?---Is it the blue transparent parts that clamp the windshield strip that you want to make?
yes it is.
we still have some at the yard i know of three good ones if that will help
Okay then---now that we got that sorted out---Although the original peice would have been built from sheet metal, what I would do is mill out a profile like the one shown (that is the sketch data for the solid model of the transparent blue part). I just picked some arbitrary figures, but you would have to calculate what dimensions you needed. If you have a friend that works in a machine shop, have him make it out of aluminum, as that is the easiest and fastest to machine. Have him make one peice twice as long as you need. Then cut it in half, drill 2 clearance holes for #10 screws through one peice and drill and tap the other peice, then drill clearance holes through the center peice, and bolt the sucker together.
mounts, or visor's? any of the mounts look like the second picture? if so, snap a pic for me.Quote:
