I am about to order a kit car and do not see the sense in powdercoating, as I will have to weld a couple things in place. My concern is the bare chassis sitting in the garage until its ready to paint.

I have thought of a light coat of machine oil or something, but that would probably just cause problems down the road when its time to paint. I have also thought about shooting a light coat of primer on it and just sanding it off in areas to be welded, but not sure if this would be a good idea or not.

Any thoughts, ideas, or opinions?
