bench seat
hey guys , i was wondering if i could put a bench seat in my elky. itrs a 69 ss , it has buckets in it, but the thing is shifter is on the floor, its a staple shifter, would a bench seat fit? and could i do it? with out not being able to shift correctly?

yeah, are you saying to like put in a bench seat, and cut a space put for the shifter then re do the upholstery?

I sure is. It sounds easy, but it could turn out to be a pain in the ass. WHat I would do is take the seat to a local upholster or hot rod shop and see what they would charge to do it. If the price is reasonable, then go with them. If it is not, then maybe go to the junkyard and get a few bench seats and practice on them first. I would hate for you to ruin your bench attempting something like this, but would love to see you save money and successfully complete a project like thisOriginally posted by mad hooker

i might possibly have to do the same thing with my 74 nova since im goign to convert the th350 on the tree to a 4 on the floor and i want to keep the bench seat in the front. if you attempt it yourself, please lemme know how it goes! good luck with it!

hey zero skater novas did come with a 4 spd with a bench front seat from the factory, i am not shure about the el camino but i think it would also have the 4 spd option with a bench seat like the chevelle
