Newer electonic speed control is partially controlled by the ECM and is regulated by the speed sensor. Why ruin a late model truck? Fix it or don't use it.

yeah I don't want to use it but how do I turn it off? i have the original dealer papers here and it shows the speed control as an added option on the truck.

If it's on the turn stalk, there should be an 'off' on the slide switch. If it stays on, you'll need the dealer to service the unit as it's controlled by the ECM. If this is a matter of just not wanting cruise...??? don't use it.

I love it on my truck.

Are you talking about the Electric Throttle Control (ETC), in other words no throttle cable or drive-by-wire, or the Cruise Control? If it is the ETC, you need to get that fixed, It may be a safety recall thing. You don't want the throttle operating unexpectedly.

I have the ETC on my 01 Silverado and love it, in fact I am also using it on my hot rod when I put the LS1 in it.

Of course, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong!

it's not cruise control and not etc, it's electronic speed control it limits the top speed of your vehicle and for some reason sometimes mine limits me to off the wall speeds like 35 mph etc

Electronic speed control is the electronic throtlle (no cables) you can't disable it,they have had lots of trouble with the wires breaking at the throttle body, There is a speed limiter built into the computer but you can not disable that either
