I have used bleach white on my Indian's whitewalls with no problems. 'Course, the rear wears out in about 4-6 thousand miles, and the front in 12-18... so maybe not long enough to be a problem.
in the army we used to put brake fluid on the tires, but I always suspected it was bad for them. Again.. they didn't last long enough to be a real time issue..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.
