I used an 8" Maverick under my 40. With Chassis Engineering springs, spring pads are fine where they are. It is the narrowist [spl?]of the 8", at 57.5 if I remember correctly. If you must have a 9", you will probably have to narrow one. I abused the 8" uder my last 40 pretty good, with no failure. Joe
