i have a open driveline right now and its pretty hard not to break loose a tire just pulling away from a stop sign.
i had a solid rearend (homade) in a ihc scout when i was young and it worked really well as the rear was so light , tire waer never seemed to be a problem in it.
Noooooo, at least not with a tire type / setup like mine, I tried a spool and I could NOT turn it, with the front wheels turned and the rear end locked (spool) it would just plow straight ahead, bent / trashed one front rim trying to get it to turn.

So after an eaton pro carrier, gasket / bearing set ( about $500 ) it's O.K.
