Thread: Which Power Steering Bracket??

Which power steering bracket should I use to bolt to the motor? The bracket that was on the 283 originaly will not line up. The 283 had a 6.75" Balancer and the 355 has an 8". Which bracket should I look for. I can`t take the smaller balancer off the 283 because its sold and I thought you guys would have a smarter and quicker solution(hopefully). I have a junk yard close by so if I know what year car to look for that will save me a TON of time.

If I was at the boneyard, I'd look for any other SBC with an 8" damper. If I was at the hardware store, I'd get a handfull of the appropriate sized flat washers and use them to space the bracket out to line up.

The reason the bracket didn`t line up was that it was hitting the side of the balancer.
