I hooked it up like the diagram. I did not hook up the blue wire. I cranked it up and removed the battery cable. It kept running but I had some smoke come out from the alternator. I cut it back off. Could this be because I didn't hook up the dash light? I disconnected the big wire going to the battery and cranked it up. The alternator is putting out 13 to 14 volts. Now I'm scared to hook it up for fear of burning up my alternator. I jumpered the wire closest to the stud on the back.
