Not sure if this is the proper forum, but...

...do you fellas know of any reputable builder/mechanics in the Ft. Lauderdale, FL area?

I called Little Joe's Rod Shop, but he said he's backed up for at least 2 months. I don't want to have the car sitting around for 2 or 3 months before anyone even looks at it.

I just bought a 66 Nova and want to get some work done to it. I want to lower it, put some new larger rims/tires on it, change the rear from spool to posi, add air conditioning, add disc brakes, and maybe a couple more things.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Un fortunately, any of the quality shops are going to have some waiting time. If he's only 2 months out, he's doing good. Most of the guys I know are booked for at least 4 months, most closer to a year. Getting the work done right is well worth the wait. Patience is a virtue in building hot rods. I'm sure you could find some hack that can start on it tomorrow, but get on the waiting list at a quality shop to get the work re done. If you don't have the time to do it right, when are you going to find the time to do it over????????

Dave, I appreciate the sage advice, but I'm just hoping that someone might know someone of quality who might have an unexpected opening or someone of quality who is just getting started with his own shop after working for someone else or something like that.

I'm just sick of playing the waiting game. I've been waiting a year for my motorcycle, waited forever for some house repairs, been waiting 7 years on my Camaro that got put on the backburner. I'm tired of waiting and just want to put some rubber to the road.

The work needed on the Nova doesn't seem all that complicated, so a good builder/mechanic could probably knock it out fairly quickly.

I have a friend that has a rod shop & is very capable of doing the work you are talking about. His work is excellent & his prices are more than fair. Scotty's rod shop (407) 957-1173.

A truck he built just took first place at a natonal street rod event.
best of show & best interior.

Tell him I sent you.......good luck Don

Thanks, Don. That's pretty far from where I live in Ft. Lauderdale. I'd probably have to have the car towed there, and I don't know much that would cost.

There's a shop on SE 30th Street between Andrews and US1 you might want to check out. I go by it about once a month when in town and always see an assortment of cars being built. Have no idea what the shops name is though.

    Regards, Mark

Thanks, Mark. I'll drive by there and check it out. Any other suggestions are still welcome.
