    Rims?

I have a couple questions on rims here... I need some new tires for my truck real soon (I am pass the wear bars on the fronts real bad and the backs are ok but pretty old and crappy tires. What I need to know though is how are the cheaper kinds of rims like Eagle and Centerline ones that are only about 120 bucks. They have cool styles to them and hold around 1,600 lbs they say, etc but for some reason they look better (some of them) than some of the way more expensive rims. Are they cheap and not too great or what? This will be for my 66 Ford and it's my everyday driver, etc so I don't need full out drag rims or nothing of that sort. Also what pound rating should I look for on this thing?

    Thanks for any info!

Don't know anything about Eagle, but I've run Centerlines on several different rides through the years and never had a problem with them. The weight rating of 1,600 lbs will be fine. Four times 1,600 is 6,400 lbs and I know your '66 Ford doesn't weigh 6,400 lbs. Hope this helps.

Tech, thanks man. I guess I will keep looking. I am looking through a old Summit catalog (can't find my new one) and they dont have many good styles I like. I like Weld wheels but they are way too much and way out of my ball park range.

Summit has a pretty good online catalog for browsing their wheels. You can select the specs in many categories

38racing, thanks man. I am going to do that tonight. Any other good online places with lots of rims and tires to choose from?

Alright, well here is another wheel question. What are some more different brands besides Centerline, Eagle, American Racing, Foose, Boyd, Crager? Any other ones I may be missing here? I didn't find any I really liked through Summit. They have nice rims but they just dont fit the style of my truck. The only one from summit that even comes close is the Thrust II or D.

    Thanks!

Check out Tire Rack. They sell all kinds of wheels and tires. Their website will give you an idea of what's out there.

And if you can afford them, Fikse makes nice wheels .

Thanks for the info guys. I love the Boyd Smoothies rims but too expensive I think. I think I may stick to the Thrust II's from American Racing. I don't know what to really go with on this truck and if I should go for a more lower profile or what.
Also, pictures are on the way too! I have them right here, I am just having to resize them and put them on another file on my computer.

Yeah I was also thinking maybe staying with these stock wheels and put the chrome caps on them with wide whitewalls since I am lowering it and painting it flat black (nice John Deere cheap.) heh.
Anyone have a pic of a 60's Ford with tires, paint scheme, etc like this? I think in order for the low profile to really look good I would have to slam the whole truck and I really dont have the time, money or need to put a whole front end in it, etc.
Thanks again! Oh and the rim suggestions are still appreciated!

Wide whites would look silly on that era truck. I wouldn't put rubber bands on it ither, daily driver and with those, because the sidewall is so thin, you sacrafice ride quality and
I don't think they look good and, the price for the rims and tires, could run you well over 3 grand or better. You might find that stock wheels off a newer ford truck ( like '95 F150 ) would be nice because they are somewhat sporty looking, the bolt pattern matches yours and, there probably available at most any junkyard, or you could probably order them new from a ford dealership.

I found a set of the American Racing wheels for around 600 for a whole set of 15's. I don't know though, the whitewalls look sweet with the truck dropped and all I think. I found a truck on the net it's stepside thought and a dark green like mine and the back has a shadow that looks like a flat black looking and it looks sweet dropped with chrome hubs and the whitewalls.
I am going to try to get good at photoshop. I am hoping I can learn to do this damn thing in a couple days because I really need tires right now they are past the wear bars, especially on the front.

The idea of the newer Ford rims is good. I may look at some other ones. I am thinking a dealership would still order them and be too expensive and it wouldn't be worth it.
