On my '40 Chevy, before I turned it into a race car, I had shaved handles. You don't need door poppers at all as the door will open just fine when you hit the button. I'd recommend the solenoids that go inside the door with a cable to your door latch. I also had a remote set up on my key chain to pop open the doors. I also had my trunk hooked up and even a tilt front end with hydraulics to open whole thing, all by remote.
