this is a car just the canadian version of the chieftan....i was told that my stock rear end wont take much abuse and i should change it to something more late model...its the same width as a 55 chevy and the frame is the same as well....any idea what will fit in nicely it could be a little wider to get some clearence from the leafs..

Lots of people use the 9" ford because it has lots of parts support, and u can get different lug patterns.Choose your battles well===If it dont go chrome it

Back, before the 9 inch Ford gained fame, that rearend and the Oldsmobile rear end were the cats meow(same design) No body that I know of makes a posi for them. They always pulled them out and made their own spool. Either by welding the spiders or by replacing them with a locked design. They were tough and almost unbreakable, but when you lock them up they become unstreetable.Duane S

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
