The few remaining WW2 fighters belong to millionaires and museums who won't sell any spare parts they might have unless you're restoring a plane. You'll have to build a replica.
How do you plan to keep the bare metal from becoming a rustbucket? Bare metal just means it's not finished yet or you can't paint or can't afford a good paint job.
An awesome paint job is what it takes to win trophies. Winning car shows may not be that important to you but it's the only way to know if you pulled off something special.
Not many people can chop a top without using filler. Probably less than 10 people in the world. If you leave it unfinished people will be talking about how bad it looks and I don't think that's what you want to hear when you try to show off. Any well done rod will give people something to talk about. It's better if they have good things to say.
The Dodge Dakota is a nice looking truck but there's way to many radical small trucks to get you noticed.
If you really want to be different do something radical with the VW pickup. Maybe like a blown Hemi in the bed. Chopped top, rear wing and flames. To be appriciated by the younger crowd you can use the extra space in the crew cab for an asskikin sound system.
You said you wanted feedback and so far we haven't heard anything positive from anyone that would encourage you to follow through on your plans. It's better to be criticized now than ridiculed after doing all that work." Im gone'
