rear drum brakes on mid eighties S10 pickup---Help I'm Stuck

This may be the dumb question of the day. When I bought the S10 rearend for my roadster pickup, it came without any brakes, from the backing plate out. This is supposedly an S10 2-wheel drive rearend. I have purchased new shoes, new wheel cylinders, spring kits, and adjuster kits to install, but none of the auto supply houses have a picture or diagram showing this stuff assembled. I bought a Haynes manual, but it is to generic to be much use. I have 3 main questions----#1 what do the ends of the parking brake cables hook to--is it a seperate lever? the only lever I have is the one for the auto adjusters, and it doesn't appear to hook to that.
#2---Does the s10 have a rectangular spring on one end of the bar which sets just above the axle and spans between the front and rear shoe, to keep it from rattling?
#3---if anybody out there has a mid eighties s10 pickup with the brake drums off, you would earn my undying gratitude if you ran out to the garage, took a picture, and posted it.
---Like I said, this may be the dumb question of the day, but I am amazed at how little information seems to be available at the auto parts dealers.
