The Doug Nash I was referring to does not have an overdrive. 5th (High) Gear is 1:1. But the first and second gear are lower than your Muncie so you could run a higher rear-end gear , like a 3.08...

You could use the money you would spend on the motor swap to buy a Doug Nash 5 speed. They generally have a 1-1 high gear, but much lower 1st and 2nd, so you can swap to a 3.08 or 3.23 rear gear...
