How did you space the holes and drill them accurately?

If I understand Pat's process, your spacing is 120 degrees and using a protractor will be close enough. The holes are drilled on the outside of the inner ring, I'd say at about a 45 would work, with the button head of the bolt acting like the nib on the old school wheels. If you need a bit more "stand off" put a washer or two on the bolts. If you find it needs to be a bit tighter, drill & tap (or just tap) to the next bigger size.
