I got the Blazer 16 inch space saver spare wheels and the baby moon wouldn't snap on because it didn't have the 3 little nubs to snap in place. So here's what I came up with and workg great. Only thing I need to do is add a pike nut instead of the regular 1/4 inch one.
The center nut's not bad in any way, but it seems like I've seen some spring steel "clips" that were held in place by three of the lug nuts, shaped to retain the baby moon?
yep i drilled and tap the outer steel ring on the rim for button head bolts that way you have the nib to hold them on

The only problem I see with the bolt is apperance and you can't tighten it to lock it down.

A nice chrome or polished stainless pan head allen would look much better. But maybe you are not finished yet.

Hey guys, I am new to the group. I saw this post when looking for baby moons that snap on the lug nuts like the crown victoria center caps do. I really like the idea of the clips and I think I am going to try that. I have two sets of steel wheels that do not have the nubs like the old wheels used to and I want to put baby moons on.

Could also build nibs with your Miller would not take much. Could be filed or ground for the final fit.
boy #3 post sounds a hell of alot better no grinding no welding and if paint is good on the wheels no need for repaint .no hole with a screw in the center of moon .no need to find clips and weld .i done it ..but do what you like:whacked:
Come on zap nib there the filing and grinding are fine tuning.
three nicely placed button head allens drill tap done clean . No Hey Oops i nipped were i should of zipped. or my nipper is in the wrong place:whacked: there is a place and time for weld n fill been there many times on many things :D

Hey guy's ,just a suggestion , but how about spot weld a bolt to the back side of the moon that way you just screw the moon into the nut with a little bit of locktite to the bolt.?
Since this thread is almost 2 years old I'd venture to guess that he's got it figured out by now

The holes are drilled on the outside of the inner ring, I'd say at about a 45 would work, with the button head of the bolt acting like the nib on the old school wheels. If you need a bit more "stand off" put a washer or two on the bolts. If you find it needs to be a bit tighter, drill & tap (or just tap) to the next bigger size.
