I sure hope you change all the fluids and put new brakes on that thing along with new tires, etc. Especially if you pull a boat with it.

Already have tires for it. Just changed the fluids all around. And should have new brakes for it tuesday. I hadnt put drum brakes on anything in a while, dang have they gotten expensive in comparison. Thanks for lookin' out for me though. I wouldnt dare put it on the road the way it sets. $20 bucks got the motor running and hadnt been started in about 18 years. Points, condenser, thermostat and she sat there idling pretty(maybe not pretty but it would idle). I could hardly believe it was that easy. You just cant stop those old I6's.

Good deal man. Yes those 6's are great and strong motors. Best thing to do is be very easy on it for a while and keep changing the fluids often for a few times. Post up some pics when you get a chance!

Very cool, especially the donated and found parts thing. Gonna be a real attention grabber when running.

I have 66 Chevy/gmc truck, its in primer, has rust, but it has updated power steering, Old/Air a/c, nice rumpety rump 327/350 with 4:11 rear. other then being lowered with Hot wrench it is nice truck( im working on fixing that!!).
The Fella I bought it from called it a Rat Rod!! Ive always though ROD meant 48 and older.
I do call it a RAT only add RIDE to it.. Rat Ride Rust bucket.. what ever as long as it runs and stops safely.
    my two cents.
I hope to have bed back on it and post pics soon.

Welcome to the forum, and I think you have coined a new phrase " rat ride." I like it, and you are right, rods are pre 48 in most peoples eyes, so this distinquishes the 49 up cars. Great term.

Post some pix of your rat ride when you get a chance.

    What is a Rat Rod

Everyone has a different idea as to what is a Rat Rod......For me it's a classic that doesn't need to follow any other type of build. Use what ever you got. leave the body raw and make the guts work like a swiss clock.

    Dude,

Get rid of the spoke wheels! Steelies with baby moons are the way to go. OR.... reverse the stock rims........

Love the rat rod.................great job! [except for the whhels]

Oilstain, I agree with Kolie about the wheels. I think they look too modern on such a cool ride. I have steelies and WWW on my Sedan but I also think old Torque Thrust 5 spokes are kool and look the part better than what you are running. I like your ride BTW. Here's mine...
