    Help With 59 Rambler American Super Motor

     



    I have a 59 Rambler American Super with a Flathead Six. I would like to install a small V-8 but don't have much room in the engine bay. I have approximately 21 inches wide X 30 inches long (transmission to fan). I would prefer not to have to cut any sheetmetal if possible. I realize that the transmission and rear will have to go to.

    Beautiful 2 door sedan with continental kit. Any advice will be appreciated.

    Best bet is to go measure some small blocks, be it Ford, Chev,Mopar etc. You may find that a V-6 may fit better.

    if the flathead runs good, keep it if your considering staying with an 'original type' power plant... the Flathead has more low end torque than the OHV.. keep the oil changed, keep the valves adjusted and re torque the cylinder head every 2nd oil change and it'll run for a long time
