I, too have a couple of good third members - ho hum ratios, 2.79 and 3.00. UPS shipping would be very expensive. Both have new seals and the 2.79 was rebuilt but has about +/-3500 miles.

Check out craigslist. There are tons for sale, and it will be a lot less(than autowrecker). I bought mine att a auto wrecker for alot more, but I was looking for a specific year and type that was a direct bolt on, and needed to get it done in a short time span.
If you do buy one from out of state, I have heard shipping via greyhoud for big items is the cheapest. Somewhere in the ball park of $75.00 cross country.I missed buying a mint condition stock bench seat for my truck, because shipping would have been 300.00. After it sold I found out about the greyhound deal. Good luck.

Make sure Your Housing has a Fill Plug . Most early 8" Ford 3rd-members do not have Fill Plugs on the Side . I was told 8" 3rd-members swap out up to 1978 . Look for a Mustang II V8 or Van Some have taller gears and Posi's .
