Look for a clapped-out '67-'68 4-dr Thunderbird. Buy the whole car. The last one I saw for sale a few years ago when I was lookin' for a 428 went for $650 with title.

Edit: here's one on Phoenix craigslist, don't know what motor though......

"White in color with black vinal top, 4 door with suicide back doors, car ran good when driven here and parked here in 1996 by a good friend who inherit it from his mother, the vinal top does need fixing from weather and back fenders has slight rust above the fenders for came from the midwest, and tires are sun weather and need replacement. otherwise it is a classic 1968 Ford Thunderbird or T-bird. come see it and you will be happy having it. person just died and need to get it out of here now and to a new good home. title is here and signed and should be fair price of just salvage priced and it should be good deal at $500"

The undispited king of the engines that went into those cars and the most desirable was the BOSS engine.
Brand new boss heads are being reproduced and these new heads fit the standard 429/460 block ,John Kaase fixed all the problems that was associated with these heads in a street car,soo far with a N/A set up he has hit a conservative 980 hp with a carb and it was well over 500 ft lbs of torque at 2000 rpm.
Plus there is nothing short of jaw drops when you pop the hood.
I am just throwin that out there ,at the end of the day ,I would hate to think for another 1500 bucks you could have double the hp if wanted and the shock and awe of a boss under the hood.
Take a gander at these pics........
