How about bolting a Pertronix unit into your distributor?

I agree. I have one in an old Mallory dual point in my '66 Mustang and I had one in a '73 F100 I sold last year. If you do go that route I would suggest purchasing
their matching coil as it is impedence matched to the distributor unit.

I'm sure I've seen some where an hei style all in the cap distributor to fit Steve's engine,I just can't find a listing for it right now. One wire hookup is very nice. He's got a Mallory dual point, but can't read the numbers off of it to get the proper conversion kit. Hank
