    283 Chevy flywheel

I need a flywheel for a 10.5 or 11" clutch that will work with my 283 in my '58 chevy truck using stock bellhousing and bellhousing mounted starter.

How many teeth I might have one hanging in the garage?
If I knew anything I'd be dangerous.

Nope, don't have one both the ones I have are for a newer style block and they won't fit your crank. I do however have a flywheel for an automatic that has 168 teeth.

All 283's are 153 tooth? I have a 57 283 and a 67 sj 327 and they both had 168 tooth flywheels on the back of them.

thats pretty weird considering 283's were small ring gear's. better re-count those teeth lol. im going off what me and my dad have had. round 10 283's and they were all 153 tooth. i can show you the flywheels i use lol the little ones.EDIT: ok i guess you can use a 168 but it aint the "right" one for a 283. ive got a 153 tooth on mine the tiny one. ive got an extra 153 tooth flywheel and flexplate and a 168 tooth flexplate laying around if anyone needs one.

Never go in reverse when you can go forward.
