I have a good 400 small block complete engine. Stock heads and intake, all the tin (no distributor or starter, will need a new flex plate). It was still running strong when I retired it after 12 years - still blows the tires, ran a 10.0 1/8th in the Caprice. Would have run in the 9's or 8's if it would hook. But has a noisy lifter now (probably worn out cam - TRW with a bit of lift) and burns a little oil. Valve guide seals have been leaking for some time - I expect there will be a good deal of carbon in there, also from the aging Q-jet). A couple of my buddies built the motor for me many years ago!

I retired it in favor of a 383 crate motor last month, and the complete 400 is sitting in my garage on the pallet. Trouble is, I'm in Birmingham AL. Don't know where you are, Cowboy, but PM me if you want more info - I have no clue how to ship a motor. Around here it will fetch about $300 but that's negotiable. I have a few feelers out but nothing definite.
