outlaw, you were doin' good til you got to the wing thing. Race wing, and good looking don't belong in the same sentence. Leave that to the ricers who want their cars to look like shopping carts.

tell ya the truth...dad and i just sold our '70 nova pro mod that was sportin a 17 inch drop off wing that flowed with the body lines. not to many people made ricer comments when they saw the bitch get sideways goin past the tree in the burnout. and if they did run their mouths...then the 8.10 e.t. shut 'em pretty quick

ill post a pic of the beast if someone could tell me how...

well if i dont have the race wing going 140+ down the 1/4 mile i think i would be unsafe and loose all control of the car at the end of the track its for drag use only !

i forgot to ask its for a 85-93 lx mustang.

    Outlaw.
You're going to need more than a 1/4 mile to get the stang up to 140+. The wing will help on cornering at 140 mph but most dragstrips are straight. Nascar racing doesn't allow them and those guys run around 200mph on corners without losing (or loosing) all control. Or are you talking about losing all control of your bodily functions. Make Depends part of your racing suit. Save your wing money and buy a drag chute.

I'm not saying we don't want you here. Just sayin you have a lot to learn and your know it all attitude makes it impossible for you to take advice from people waaaayyy smarter that you.

If you really need a wing to feel safe I can make you one in my shop that would be the envy of all your ricer friends. How much do you want to spend? I charge $60 an hour for machine shop time. installation would be $40 an hour body shop time.

Are you still pissed about the laser thing?

I never made any wings but I do a lot of prototype work. A wing would be easy to make as there are no critical dimensions. I would make three 1/2 inch thick aluminum stands and an aluminum wing similar to the ones on super modifieds but only 12 inches wide with end caps. The angle of the wing would be adjustable so you could dial it in to where it works best. it would take about 8 hrs labor plus materials and I would need to borrow a Mustang to be sure it fits right. The skin would be attached with pop rivets. If you would rather do it without the rivets I have a friend who welds aluminum. I think he charges $25 an hr. You'll have to send me a full size sketch of the cross section of the wing shape that you want . For a wing to work the top must be longer front to rear than the bottom. That's why the top is curved more than the bottom.
I think you would be happy with one of the aftermarket wings they sell to the ricers. Even though I think they look silly some of them are well built and would suit your needs. I saw a nice quality aluminum double winger on a Civic last week. Some ricer posted a link here a couple of weeks ago for sweetridz.com (not sure of the spelling) I didn't check it out but Streets did and he said it was all ricer crap. They should have some wings there. I can't think of anything funny to crack myself up this time but I'm sure Streets will.

Here's a listing of pro-mod (since it sounds like that's where you're headed, and if so, does it not surprize you that a site for hot rods isn't exactly the best source for this info?) rules: http://www.worldfordchallenge.com/class_pro5.html

And here's a pic of a typical pro-mod type wing. Less of a shopping cart handle:

Here's another, less wicked, similar to what Al described, but less ricer.
