csims, why do you feel you need to change the steering for more room? Turbo(s) systems are very flexible in the way they are installed in the car and the turbo(s) can be mounted anywhere under the hood. In a '55 Chevy with a small block, there should be way more room than you could ever need.

There is no magic bullet waiting for you at the boneyard. The only components you'll find there are the R&P, pump and lines, and they will probably need rebuilding. The major part of the conversion rests in the crossmember to mount the rack and the special steering arms. If you have no expertise in the geometry involved in steering and are lacking superior fabricating skills, I suggest you pony up for a well-engineered kit or figure out a way to mount the hair dryers with your present steering system.
