Brian, this is a problem for me too. I am thinking about settling for a spreader bar in front and maybe a rear bumper made out of a piece of 1" or 3/4" diameter bar across the back with home made brackets painted body color and maybe some day chromed? Maybe you can do an experiment for me in that there does not seem to be a spreader bar for Model-As so it would be interesting to me to see how you adapt a '32 spreader bar (available from Speedway). A single 1" diameter steel bar ought to be a good compromise as to strength versus weight for a rear bumper.
