The manifold is two parts. The carb attaches to the top part which, of coarse bolts to the bottom part and then to the block. The air is filtered thru a normal carb mounted air cleaner.
The turbo draws the air/fuel mixture from just under the carb (the top part), boosts it and forces it back into the manifold base (the bottom part). There is a metal flapper on the bottom of the upper part of the intake, under the carb, that at idle allows the air/fuel to flow as normal, but closes under boost to stop backflow up thru the carb. I hope this helps. Thanks.
