I want to paint these mirrors I have...

For my little project. This will be my first attempt at painting anything with a spray gun. I have a 6hp compressor and Sears LVHF gun.

These are painted with factory GM paint. What steps should I take to prep the surface? Do I need to remove the existing paint or can I prime & then paint right over?

I figured this would give me good experience as a simple first time paint job.

    They're from an Old's Aurora.

I'm going for a look like this, only mine will be Cortez Silver:
