As far as pearl goes it can be added to the clear coat. That is how I did the flames on my truck, added blue pearl to a mid-coat clear then buried that with the top coat clear.

Yeah, I know.....I was just hoping someone might have a good mix for pearl and a healthy dose of metallic that would work well with good old 9700 black. I'll more then likely end up doing as you suggested.
