shrink and wrinkle does not make all the paint . nor does dupont mfgr for anyone else. and i know damn well ppg makes their own. every company buys resins and makes their own.
and for the record summit sells kirker paint. another brand i would not use.

Amen to that, though I can understand it with some peoples show vehicles that I've seen. I would LOVE to go get myself a paint job done in a house of color paint or some of those PPG hughes, THAT I can understand paying a good amount of money to have done. I can also understand someone bringing in a rust bucket and needing a ton of body work, I can see this running 20 grand.
I cannot myself justify spending probably anymore than 5k on my paint job, I dont need awesome paint though I would like it. Im fairly young (28) and do not make a ton of money, its this kind of thing that scares my generation away from this hobby. That and they do not know much about it, hence the reason you see a kid with 15k in his motor in an eclipse, a car thats now worth 1000 bucks.

I'm totally floored at the prices you guys are talking about. The last car I painted was my 1970 Caprice in 1976, switched from gold to burgany, did all the jambs etc., took 1 1/2 gallons of Laquer.... Total price for paint was $55.00

You guys would be very surprised what is licensed for production and by who. I get this right from the regional management of each company. Again you need to see it to believe it. I have.

you wont find any rumors or guess work there . any bs advice is deleted immediately and the poster will get only one warning. unfortunately the internet is full of as much bs bad advice as good advice. some of the so called experts on some other sites are surprisingly absent there even though they use spi.

That site that shine suggested is tops. I'll lurk mostly, seldom check in, but it has to be the best automotive painting site on the net. Additionally, the owner of SPI is a great guy to talk to and do business with. My '31 is primed and cleared with the SPI materials. I used DuPont's ChromaBase as SPI doesn't offer colors now but blackDave W

Here's a good first step - Block Sanding Kit 3 Sanders-2PSA paper Guide Coat Guide coat & block sand to ID low spots. If shallow (~1/16" or less) just fill with a good quality body filler and sand using blocks & 180 to 220 grit. Two coats of epoxy primer, block to check one last time for lows & highs, and a final prime coat for any sand throughs. Watch the video on the Eastwood site page attached for some basics.Roger

never try to fill one at a time. on a bed rail just glaze it front to back and bring it all down together.

I agree with shine on that going after individual spots will drive you nuts, especially if you keep sanding too much off!"
