i have a friend that builds boats air planes and road race bodys he rolls out the first coat of 2k then he blocks them and shoots the primer on from there
. lacquer or urethane primer i never buried bad body or any thing more then 180 grit on body work and finer for paint . a new car body are still dip most of the hi end stuff they must be using epoxy as some get worked over alot i been told so they have some filler primers some of the bmw stuff was epoxy when i did get new parts . when i did a re paint on a striped steel car they were acid etch then a epoxy like DP the a k2 then a tint primer thinner body primer then the k2 something more like a k36 used for a sanding sealer .then sanded out to 600 then to base . shop jobs we just thined out dp but it was a love hate deal for a sealer . i like to shoot over sanded 600 grit as you did not get any chunky looking paint were the paint shifted when the thinnners moved outLast edited by pat mccarthy; 04-15-2011 at 07:33 PM.
