Thanks HotRodDaddy and Jay/HotrodPaint
Great examples and what I was looking for Jay!! Thanks for the advice on flames and suggestion towards scallops -- starting to lean heavier that way myself for the reasons you gave. The flat black with the red scallops is very interesting. Given 49-51 Mercs have that body contour from the fender onto the door I would likely like to emphasis or make use of it.
What if proportionately shortened the length of the scallops from the wheel well, in order to then somehow extend the scallop on the top of the fender back and along that body contour on the door?
Somewhat similar perhaps to how on the beige car with rust scallops has that very thin top fender scallop that extends back and follows the body contour along the door? Likely expand the hood scallops down to hood lip, and in width by adding one more "sprite" on the vertical slope/side of the hood?
HotRodDaddy -- no, car wasn't from the PBR. Although has a bit of history as was owned in the late 70's by PolyDor Records here in Canada who had the rights to the sound track album for the movie "Grease" (with Travolta / Newton-John) and used the car for promotion and marketing of album sales. Hence the wording "Grease" painted on the fender skirts in the font/style as used on the album cover / movie titles. I guess the picture in my profile is so small one couldn't read what it says. Would be interested in your two-tone if you can find a picture.
