    Anyone have one of these?

We are working up a few paint concept drawings for this project,. It is a '38 Dodge Brothers "humpback" panel. As I understand, these were made from '36 to '38.

I would like to see what other people have done with them, but I know I won't find many examples. The owner is still pretty flexible about what he will consider.

    Got any pictures?

Don't own one, but have seen one or two at the NSRA East Nats. They seem to pretty rare, but they do dress up well. I'll check to see if I have any pictures of one.

The owner told me there were only 1200 '38s built, so that makes them pretty rare. Anything under 5,000 copies is considered rare, but that was also 70 years ago!

Thanks, guys. It's an unusual body style for sure....not only the roofline, but the rear doors sweep out at the bottom, and the truck looks "heavy", so I am trying to slenderize it too.

It's further complicated by the removal of the hood sides (to expose some big horsepower), making a "thick looking" grill shell, and exposing a lot of firewall.

I have tried a couple unusual things, but thought I might see what other guys have done with this body style, and the effect of darker colors.

I'm already used to seeing how well you paint, but I don't recall seeing how well you draw.........nice representation!

Jay, a few years ago (two?) Randy Clark had one of these (I think) for sale on his web site. http://www.hotrodscustomstuff.com/
You might email him and ask where it went....someone bought it but I'm not sure if Randy built a car out of it.

Mike, This one is supposed to have been in Tucson from the time it was a working grocery delivery truck. The owner has about the tenth generation of it's history, so he doesn't know how much is true. I've made a few inquiries locally, but nothing concrete yet.

Bluestang67, I see a fertile imagination in those renderings. :-)

I would post some of the drawings we've done so far, but they belong to the guy who paid for 'em.

Thanks to the suggestions you guys have given, I did find an interesting treament on the net today, that helps to "shrink" that big roof. Maybe we can try another approach.

I hope you enjoy it! I have always thought that one of the best parts about rods, customs, and performance cars (besides thrilling performance) was their striking appearance! Now I get to help. :-) How kool is that!
