Thread: Dark or light paint??

I guess this is a question for artists more than a technical paint question: I have an 1930s panel truck ready for paint. Will dark or light paint make it appear smaller? The large windowless sides tend to look overwhelming. Any ideas??

a dark color will always visually "shink" things. Light color makes them look bigger.

Also, if you two-tone it horizontally, it will make it look longer and lower.

Light paint will make it look larger, but will help hide questionable bodywork. black paint will make it look smaller, and magnify every flaw in the bodywork. Light colours are cooler temperature wise. Dark colours are cooler, styling wise.

OK,,,at this point I have to ask,how straight is she? Wavy? Take the good advice already given and go with a light color backgroud with large dark pokadots,,,hides everything!

...or paint a nude on the side, and nobody will notice the truck's imperfections. :-)

If it is a rough body, and you can't, or won't repair it right, at least use a medium color. A grainy metallic will help hide small imperfections.

Get a big Frank Frazetta airbrushed mural of naked women, screaming skulls, and barbarian warriers on the sides. Then a little orange shag rug for the interior, and some of that funny tobbaccy--- Oh My god==I just flashed back to 1974!!!
